Each year, some of the top U.S. institutions of higher learning lavish big prizes on students with the most promising inventions, business plans, or a combination of the two. We talked to schools around the country to find winners from the past 12 months who have excelled in the technology arena. Then we narrowed the field to six.

Some winners represent collaborations between tech-savvy science or engineering students and their B-school counterparts. All have come up with cutting-edge ideas — from the MIT student who devised a flying car, to the Washington University student who’s marketing RFID (radio frequency identification) for cows.Slide Show: TITLE HERE
