Hmm… Great motivation to build even more sites.
And, when we consider that Markus (plentyoffish.com) earns about $300,000 / month, we can tell for sure: “There is a lot of (shoe)money in AdSense…”.

METROPROPER LAUNCHES TO CONNECT LOCAL BUSINESSES AND COMMUNITY
MetroProper Combines Elements of Social and Community Sites
Chicago, IL (Date) – As many community networks have boomed through the past decade, MetroProper has launched to truly connect businesses and community members in a simplified, streamlined manner, bringing the best of many sites into a one-stop shop for local residents.
MetroProper acts as the parent site to the 400 localized metropolitan area community sub-sites, where local businesses and community members can comment on local attractions, events. Centered around a local scene, MetroProper offers local business listings and reviews via citizen journalism.
MetroProper combines elements of several social and community sites into one online experience, organized into a more locally-focused, friendly format. Each site offers many options including:
Citizen Media Features: Commenting, tagging, RSS feeds, forums and bookmarking which allow community members to play an active role in reporting, analyzing and disseminating news and information about their hometown events and businesses.
Company/Business Features: Classified ads, event listings on top of businesses profiles allow businesses a targeted way to reach their audiences. Search results are extremely geographic, too, which is a friendly, accessible format for users to find local companies.
MetroProper was founded by Philip Tadros, a Chicago entrepreneur who built the site to help users find new local businesses and people.
“I have opened many storefronts, particularly coffee houses, and been able to create a productive, engaging and safe off line environment,” said MetroProper CEO Philip Tadros. “My goal with MetroProper is to mirror a coffee shop like atmosphere that is additionally inviting and relaxing.”
A Proper Business
MetroProper is nearly tailor made for small business owners or businesses who desire a bigger online presence. A standard business listing and personal profile for business owners and companies is no charge. Business profiles, which are expanded content in near “Myspace-like” format with a customized page, is available for a nominal fee. The business profiles allow a more charming, down to earth, intelligent, productive way to engage with their community.
Business owners can advertise sales, specials, events or news on MetroProper, which can be read directly from that companies’ personalized page.
Also, unlike Google or Yelp, where companies can pay to get to the top of a list, MetroProper acts more democratically. Companies can only be at the top of the MetroProper search engine by number of votes or “props.”
“The main differentiator for MetroProper is its explicit devotion to driving people to do things offline,” said Tadros. “We aren’t necessarily encouraging online sales but for community members to see more of what businesses are offering and to see them in person.”

Internet Startup makes Finding the Best Online Application Easy
Breda, the Netherlands May 15, 2008 — The ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) principle is rapidly gaining popularity. The uprise of innovative online applications makes traditional and expensive software unnecessary. Examples of successful web applications are video service YouTube and free music service Last.fm. To bring some structure and insight into the endless possibilities, the website http://www.AppAppeal.com has been launched. The goal of this website is to inform consumers as comprehensively as possible about all the possibilities SaaS web applications have to offer.
Worldwide Popularity
Because of the many advantages offered by web applications in comparison to traditional desktop software, the use of there applications are undergoing a global and explosive growth.
Web applications can be accessed and used from any workstation equipped with a webbrowser, such as Internet Explorer. Hence, users are not constrained to one workstation for reading email or the editing and storing of text documents. “Both consumers and professional users can benefit tremendously from a transition to web-based applications,” says Sytse Sijbrandij, co-founder of AppAppeal.com, “web-based applications are the future, for instance Microsoft is developing an online version of Microsoft Office.”
Web Applications make Traditional Software Obsolete
In contrast to traditional software, web applications are often free to use and users to not have to deal with hassle such as installations, updates or workstations which freeze. Moreover, there are many services around, which allow users to share documents with other users, for example Flickr for photo’s, YouTube for videos and Google Docs for text documents.
Because all documents are stored on external servers, users do not run the risk of losing important documents when a workstation crashes. Co-founder of the website Jelle de Bruin: “web application users are no longer bound to the workstations at home or at work, instead they can access their documents whenever and where-ever they want.” He adds: “through AppAppeal.com users can base their choice for a particular web application on the reviews published on this website.”
Launch Comparison Website
Despite the advantages of online services as opposed to traditional software, many users are not fully aware of the possibilities offered by various applications. Moreover, new applications are launched every day. In order to make the choice for the application which suits the needs of a user and to stay up-to-date with the latest news, the website http://www.appappeal.com has been launched.
On this website, elaborate and independent reviews of web applications can be found. All applications are organized in categories such as “Blogging”, “Personal Finance” and “Wiki Hosting”.
The website is still being developed. Soon, tools will be added to create an interactive community around web-based applications. The goal is, to become the No. 1 online community in web applications. The website is developed by the internet startup Comcoaster, founded by Sytse Sijbrandij and Jelle de Bruin.

I resent that this website is being dubbed as “total exploitation.” I am getting a 6400 breast augmentation for free? How is that exploiting me? Just because some of the women that sign up are giant whores and send out hardcore videos doesnt mean everyone does. And no matter what ANYONE does it is their CHOICE! That is antonymous with exploitation.

This is crazy? People are now paying big money for .NET domains. They keyword phrase domain names pretty much guarantee rankings in Google.
I run an eCommerce site on BuellParts.NET and it ranks number one for that phrase.
My next site I’m working on is going to rank for Programmable Thermostat . I wish I could pay for the .NET domain for this keyword. I could never imagine paying $300k for a .NET, but it may be worth it if you have an income producing website behind it.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
COMPARISON WEBSITE FOR WEB APPLICATIONS LAUNCHED

That is antonymous with exploitation.

a true entrepreneur..she is putting 200,000 of her own money…wow she spent 5 years on R&D?
There is obviously a need for the tracking device since 4000 people have already subscribed…
I wonder if the 5 year R&D period was a bigger cost for her than the 200,000 she put down
Great post

Hmmmm that is whole lot of money for a blog. This is definitely the exception for any blogger. Very weird story, except he was earning revenue in excess of a million a year on his blog and even that is unlikely…
I would have doubted the story, but the source is quite reliable. This is a life changer for the owner(s) of the blog, I would have gladly accepted half or even a quarter of what he got in the first check…
